About Us Re-Imagine Ontario (“The Organization” or “RiO”) is a registered charitable organization whose mission is to improve the health, education, and employment of vulnerable individuals, with particular focus on black youth, through community networks, development opportunities, and family supports. The programs we run include both youth and programs for isolated seniors. The Role Are you 16–25 with interest in entrepreneurship, excited to start a future business, community-based financing or related areas? Are you a natural leader? Re-Imagine Ontario (RiO) is supporting the launch of an independent youth–adult grassroots group focused on exploring entrepreneurship supported by business mentoring and cooperative or community financing that support businesses. We are looking for a minimum of 3 motivated youth volunteers to help shape this exciting new community-driven project initiative. A light but meaningful time commitment — approximately 2-3 meetings per month (virtual or in-person). Please note that you will not be paying anything nor selling anything. The group will operate independently, but with RiO staff guidance during the startup phase. Responsibilities • Work alongside a mentor from RiO while helping build a youth-led group • Explore/brainstorm entrepreneurship ideas, pitch micro-business ideas, peer-to-peer learning, and real business problem-solving • Participate in designing and running a youth cooperative financing circle • Build leadership, teamwork, and project-planning skills • Contribute your ideas and influence the direction of a brand-new community initiative • Create a positive impact for youth across the region What You’ll Gain • Hands-on experience with business concepts • Financial literacy and savings management skills • Volunteer hours (if needed) • A chance to build something meaningful from the ground up • Networking with community leaders and other youth Who Should Apply? Youth ages 16–25 who are: • Interested in or curious about entrepreneurship • Interested in learning how community informal financing works to support businesses • Eager to collaborate, share ideas, build community, and start current or future businesses • Responsible, creative, and open-minded This initiative aims to increase the representation of Black youth in entrepreneurship, community leadership, and peer-led financial initiatives.
