Also required for this position: Qualifications: • Self-identified female, 18 years or older. • Empathetic & Excellent listener • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Sensitive and with a genuine interest as the needs of women. • A willingness to work within the philosophy of the Women’s Centre of Halton. • Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Basic computer skills Not suitable for current or former clients ( last 5 years)
Languages Needed:

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Peer Support Volunteer

5 hours / monthly
Ongoing 
To provide a safe, non-judgmental community where women can access support and learn about resources.
•	To provide a safe, caring, supporting environment for all women.
•	To provide empathetic active listening skills to help women identify their own strengths and explore options available to them.
•	Provide peer support for drop-in or phone calls.
•	Administrating front desk duties.

Peer Support Shifts are during the day during weekdays:
Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in person in Oakville 
Tuesdays and Fridays Remote  
Shifts are: 10 am-12:30 pm and 12:30 to 3 pm

Training is done remotely at your convenience
Shift sign-up happens in the middle of the months before ( ie. March 15th ish for April Shifts) 
There is only one volunteer on at a time so reliability and dependability are a must.
Certification or Education Required
Clean Criminal Record check
