Youth Literacy Volunteer Tutor
Ongoing
Join our exciting Youth Literacy Program and make a difference in young lives! We match volunteer tutors with kids in Grades 1-5 and youth English learners in Grades 6-12 who need help with their reading skills, reading comprehension, and academic vocabulary. We offer training and support to our tutors, and we can assure you that this will be a unique and rewarding experience for you! We are accepting volunteer applications for the upcoming 2024/2025 school year. Youth Literacy will run during the school year beginning in mid Fall 2024, with a minimum three month commitment. Learners will be paired with a volunteer and meet once a week for 1 hour. The family and volunteer tutor will select their preferred library branch and time for their session. If you're eager to be a part of this transformative initiative, please get in touch with us! Reach out via phone, email, or visit us in person to get started! Together, let's foster a love for learning and empower the next generation. Call: 403.346.4576 ext. 8524| Email: youthlit@rdpl.org | Visit: Dawe Branch, Red Deer Public Library, 56 Holt St. (in the G.H. Dawe Centre) Volunteer tutors are required to be 16+ and provide a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteering with the RDPL Youth Literacy Program is an amazing way to share your love for reading and learning, practice your teaching and tutoring skills, gain volunteer hours for post-secondary programs, and help new Canadians and refugees integrate into their new home.
