Amakon Women Empowerment Inc

Amakon Women Empowerment (AWE) is a Registered Charity focused on promoting women’s success by providing disadvantaged and underprivileged women and girls access to success-enhancing tools.
What we do
1. Provide food, baby supplies and computer access to at-risk, pregnant and parenting high school girls to enable them remain and complete high school. To this end, we work with female students at Youth Shelters, Shirley Schneider Support Center and Cornwall Alternative School.
2. Provide free computer skills training to disadvantaged women including female new Canadians wanting to get into the workforce but are precluded by lack of computer skills. New Comers to Canada also want to get up to speed with computer skills to learn English so they can better integrate and contribute to their communities and also gain employment.
3. It is not always possible for women with young children to work outside the home. However, some are very talented and want to start small businesses that they can manage from home, but lack the knowhow. We are in the process of designing and creating an entrepreneurial course to teach such women some of the skills needed to create, promote and market their business successfully.
