NOTICE OF VOLUNTEER TREASURER POSITION

Sexual Assault Services Saskatchewan [SASS] is seeking a volunteer with a financial/accounting background to serve as a Treasurer on our Board of Directors Executive for fiscal years 2024-2026.

As a provincial organization that works collectively with front-line member agencies across the province, with a wide variety of community partners, and all levels of government to provide support and advocacy for those affected by sexual violence, SASS values having diverse perspectives, voices and experiences to help us further our mission.

In recent years, SASS has led the development of high-impact initiatives such as the Saskatchewan Sexual Violence Action Plan, a provincial research study on sexual violence in Saskatchewan, and most recently, the Saskatchewan Sexual Violence Education Initiative.

It is an exciting time of growth and opportunity for our organization as we continue to address and advance the work of preventing and addressing sexual violence and related gender violence through research, education, policy and development.

SASS is currently seeking board candidates who have skill sets in the following areas:
Financial expertise/CPA designation (non-profit experience is an asset)
Awareness of, engagement in, or interest in the provision of sexualized violence services, prevention, or advocacy is an asset.
Candidates must be based in the Regina area.

Board Responsibilities:
Directors’ terms are for two years, renewable twice (six years in total);
Ten virtual Board meetings a year, currently held about once a month over a noon hour, except for August and December.
Board members serve on one committee at least such as Finance.
Board and committee meetings are conducted online, in English.
Orientation and ongoing opportunities for professional development are provided.
The overall time commitment is on average 2 – 6 hours per month, including Board meetings, committee meetings, reading materials, and email communication.
