The Saskatoon Council on Aging (SCOA) is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive aging for all in an age-friendly community by providing programs, services and education to promote dignity, health and independence of older adults. SCOA addresses the widespread prejudices of ageism, enhances the age-friendliness of our communities, enables healthy, positive aging and supports the well-being of older adults. SCOA serves approximately 80,000 older adults 65 and over in Saskatoon and area.
Key programs include:
POSITIVE AGING RESOURCE CENTRE
• Information referrals, pamphlet resources of interest to older adults
SENIORS’ NEIGHBOURHOOD HUB CLUB
• Free monthly program with wellness clinic
LIFELONG LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
• Free monthly Life Skills presentations SPOTLIGHT ON SENIORS
• Entertainment, booths, educational speakers
BUS BUDDY PROGRAM
• Volunteers assist seniors wanting to use the bus for the first time.
SENIOR’S GLOBE WALK
• Keep motivated through the winter months by forming teams and staying active
