Evening Program Volunteer - The Corner (Mondays, Through Thursdays 6pm-9pm)

at least 6 months
The Corner program is a drop-in service for male, and gender diverse sex workers in the community. The Corner provides a safe drop-in environment for participants to relax, eat, socialize and access community-based services. 

We are looking for volunteers to fill roles on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6pm-9pm. We require that volunteers commit to the position for 6 months.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Assists the Program Coordinator with the set-up and preparation of food and drop-in space prior to the arrival of participants, and then assists with program clean up 
• Monitors and re-stocks the food table as required. 
• Interacts with the participants according to personal comfort levels and develops rapport for peer-based support
• Assists new clients with program intake/agreement form completion 
• Provides support to participants and refers them to the Coordinator for follow up as required.

REQUIREMENTS 
• Comfortable working with a street involved population 
• Able to work effectively in a team environment 
• Sensitive to issues of diversity and issues of sex and sexuality 
• Able to assert boundaries when needed 
• Interested in HIV/AIDS and related issues
