Seniors Community Meals Ambassador (South Vancouver Neighbourhood House)

South Vancouver Neighbourhood House (SVNH) is a community service agency and charitable organization serving South Vancouver since 1977. As a neighbourhood house, we work toward improving the quality of both community and family life. We offer activities and services for seniors, adults, families, youth, and children, which are determined by the needs and interests of the people living in our community. Each year, nearly 3,000 individuals participate in our programs, which are run in partnership with over 600 volunteers who donate more than 30,000 hours of their time.

Seniors Community Meals Ambassador
Program/Project:  Community Based Seniors Services 

Objectives: 
- To assist in the preparation and delivery of meals to seniors living in the community.
- To support seniors by ensuring they have access to nutritious meals.
- To reduce social isolation by providing friendly interactions during meal deliveries.

 Key Responsibilities:  
- Assist in preparing meals, including food preparation, cooking and packaging.
- Safely deliver meals to senior living facilities as assigned.
- Provide a warm and friendly greeting to seniors during deliveries, fostering meaningful connections.
- Follow proper food safety and hygiene practices during meal preparation and delivery.
- Report any concerns, incidents, or emergencies immediately to the program coordinator.
- Attend all required orientation and training sessions.
- Respect confidentiality and treat all seniors with dignity and respect.

 Qualifications:  
- Reliable, punctual, empathetic, and compassionate.
- Physically able to assist with meal preparation and deliveries, including lifting light packages.
- Ability to follow health and safety guidelines, including food handling practices.
- Having Food Safety Certificate is an asset.

 Schedule: 2nd and/or 4th Tuesday morning of each month (depending on your availability).
