Library Aid
The Craft Council of BC is an arts service organization that provides support to the BC craft sector. Currently, we are looking for people who are interested in volunteering a minimum of one, regularly scheduled shift per week, to support our library administration. If you have a passion for craft, love reading, and have been trying to find a way to support artists and contribute to BC's cultural economy then we would love to have you! We are looking to fill 4 hour shifts. Shifts can take place between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM depending on your availability. We provide training around all of the software we use to run the organization and some training around contemporary craft processes, allowing for a holistic learning experience. Along with 4 other staff members you would be working alongside our office dog - a friendly golden retriever named Alice. Your specific duties would include: You will work closely with our team which will give you a front row seat to learn how a small library is run to: • Stamp books and magazines • Attach stickers and tape to books and magazines • Add information to our Library Thing and excel sheet databases • Create call numbers based on our current system • Organize and shelve books Qualifications • Basic computer literacy • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and lift objects. • A love for organizing! • Courteous, helpful and outgoing personality when interacting with others. • Enjoy working as part of a team and have the ability to take the lead and work independently when required. • Ability to multi-task, organize, and be flexible.
