Volunteer Marketing & Communications Co-Lead

Are you passionate about the power of education to change the world? Put that passion and your marketing and communication skills to use with Education without Borders (EwB) and its South African Film Festival.

Who We Are:
Education without Borders (EwB) is a Canadian-based non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk children through initiatives in South Africa and Canada including after-school support programs in Math, English, Science, school leadership and youth mentorship.​
Our key fundraising event is the nationwide, virtual annual South African Film Festival (SAFF) held in November, which presents feature films, documentaries and shorts that explore the culture, history and politics of South Africa – films that inspire, inform, and entertain. In November 2025, SAFF will hold its 15th film festival across Canada. All proceeds from the Festival support EwB initiatives in South Africa and local Indigenous youth projects in Canada.

Volunteer Marketing & Communications Co-Lead – EwB and SAFF
The Marketing & Communications co-lead supports both EwB and SAFF:
- Collaborates with a small marketing and communications team based in different cities in Canada on all EwB and SAFF initiatives 
- Works with the EwB Board to develop a marketing/communication strategy and annual plan
- Co-leads the development of communication campaigns and materials, social media, website management, events
- Co-leads editorial content for the website, social media postings, and publications
Coordinates the marketing team volunteers
- Liaises with EwB Australia and USA to align communications
- Supports the EwB team in South Africa for any marketing requests

You bring your creativity and are savvy in the areas of:
- Knowledge of digital marketing techniques and social media engagement strategies
- Website management (experience with CMS, such as Wix would be ideal)
- Design and simple design tools, such as Canva
- Email marketing, preferably experience with creating email campaigns in Mailchimp and managing the audience

An interest in South African films and culture is an asset.

Format:
This is a remote volunteer opportunity.

Time Commitment:
10-15 hours per month for ongoing support of EwB and/or SAFF
Higher time commitment required in December for annual giving email campaign, as well as leading up to the SAFF festival, and during the festival which is taking place In November 2025
