Exact Resemblance is a Vancouver-based theatre company co-founded by Gillian Clare and Cristiana Ripeanu, dedicated to creating thought-provoking theatre that thrills, moves, and challenges audiences to engage with complex questions. Committed to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and access, the company prioritizes showcasing and promoting the work of women-identifying, gender-diverse, refugee, and immigrant artists. By centering underrepresented voices and stories, Exact Resemblance seeks to contribute to a more inclusive and representative cultural landscape. The company also strives to enrich Vancouver's theatre scene through knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and fostering meaningful learning and collaboration across diverse communities and artistic practices.

Our collective operates through a collaborative and democratic process, intentionally curating our productions based on input, suggestions, and a structured voting system among members. We value equity, diversity, inclusion, and access in decision-making, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected. Each member contributes unique expertise, with roles and responsibilities designated through mutual agreement, fostering a diverse and inclusive blend of skills and perspectives in our creative process.

We are committed to upholding the highest professional standards across all aspects of our work, including production, scheduling, rehearsals, and the equitable distribution of fees. Our operations are guided by transparent collaboration agreements, which reinforce our dedication to accountability, mutual respect, and cultural safety within the collective.

We maintain comprehensive records of finances, production decisions, and best practices, ensuring rigorous documentation that supports smooth operations and continuous improvement. This approach allows us to meet and exceed industry standards while cultivating a creative environment that is both professionally enriching and personally fulfilling for all members, with a focus on creating safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces.
