Volunteer Shipping Assistant
The GI Society is committed to improving the lives of people with gastrointestinal and liver conditions, supporting research, advocating for appropriate patient access to healthcare, and promoting gastrointestinal and liver health. As a non-profit organization, we rely directly on the support of volunteers to keep us running. The Shipping Assistant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely shipping of patient information pamphlets, newsletters, and information packages. Our printed publications contribute to the well-being of patients and their loved ones. By educating Canadians on gastrointestinal and liver disease, we can empower Canadians to live a more fulfilled, healthier life. We are looking for 1-2 volunteers who is able to start as soon as possible. Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 9 am - 4 pm. The candidates(s) must be able to come in during those hours. Duties • Assembling and packaging pamphlet orders and information requests • Determining postage method and postal rates • Maintaining order in the stockroom • Stuffing envelopes, folding letters, and labelling for distributing newsletters and other mail-outs • Counting inventory • Restocking shelves, including lifting heavy boxes • Learning administrative tasks if interested Qualifications • Good organizational skills • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects • Basic mathematical skills • Ability to work independently • Able to commit to 2 hours a week Time Commitment: Long-term (6 months or longer), Weekdays, with flexible hours.
