Board of Directors Volunteer

The Board of Directors serves as the legal authority of the South Granville Seniors Friendship Centre. Each Director holds a position of trust within the community and plays a key role in ensuring the effective governance of the organization.

In addition to any executive or committee chairperson roles, all board members fulfill general Director-at-Large responsibilities.

Requirements
Board membership requires:

-A commitment to the mission and work of the organization.

-A professional background in one or more of the following fields: law, administration, human resources, social services, accounting, or related areas.

-Knowledge or expertise in one or more governance areas, such as policy, finance, programs, personnel, or advocacy.

-Willingness to participate in committees.

-Regular attendance at monthly Board meetings.

-Active participation in assigned committee meetings.

-Attendance at the Annual General Meeting.

-Support for special and fundraising events.

-Personal financial contributions to the organization, based on ability.


General Duties:
As a Director-at-Large, responsibilities include:

-Approving policies and recommendations from the Board, committees, and senior staff.

-Monitoring and upholding all Board policies.

-Reviewing and recommending bylaw or policy updates as needed.

-Evaluating the Board’s structure and recommending necessary amendments.
