Banfield at Villa Cathay (BVC) provides 24-hour nursing care and is designed to feel like home for adults with complex care needs, including seniors. BVC is seeking volunteers to provide cultural support for the exciting Social Recreation program. In addition to regular duties as a Social Recreation Program volunteer which includes supporting recreation activities, you will be responsible for providing the unique connection that comes with shared culture and language. This is a special opportunity to provide connection to those most in need while also developing new skills and gaining experience in long-term care. The ideal volunteer will able to speak Cantonese and has Chinese, Vietnamese or related cultural background. 
Duties may include:
•	Building rapport with residents at BVC
•	Connecting with residents over shared cultural traditions, celebrations and leisure activities
•	Helping to create a positive, enthusiastic and respectful social environment during recreation 
•	Engage in social conversation or a leisure activity of interest with select residents
•	Provide companionship to residents experiencing or at-risk for social isolation
•	Portering residents in need to/from program
•	Providing 1-1 assistance to residents during recreation program
•	Assisting with general set-up and take down/clean up of program materials
•	Other relevant duties as needed

Note: Applicants must be over the age of 19 to qualify
