The six-story Dogwood Care Home provides 24-hour nursing care and is designed to feel like home for 150 adults with complex care needs, including seniors. Located between Oakridge and Marpole, large windows and patios offer stunning views of the city skyline and nearby greenspaces.

Dogwood Care Home's “The Nook” is located at the entrance of the facility and is a service for residents, visitors, and staff. Kiosk items include snacks such as chips, candy, sodas, toiletry products, greeting cards and other seasonal items. Residents benefit from the services of The Nook as it provides social interaction, increased independence, mental stimulation, access to products, and overall enhanced quality of life and wellbeing. As a Kiosk & Client Connections Volunteer, you would have a major impact on the residents and visitors by creating a welcoming atmosphere, creating connections and supporting meaningful purchases by staff, residents or their family members and friends.

Dogwood Care Home is looking for a volunteer who is friendly, outgoing and enjoys connecting with people. Below is a list of the major duties and responsibilities of this role:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•	Customer service – welcome visitors, staff and residents when entering facility, ensure a positive client experience by connecting with clients through friendly conversation, offering information on snacks and items available, completing transactions and encouraging clients to return.
•	Complete cash transactions and organize cashbox.
•	Keep inventory of items to be used for product ordering.
•	Keep kiosk tidy and organized, re-stock shelves, rotate stock, assist with projects such as special event displays, decorating and changing of seasonal inventory when needed.
•	Opening and closing procedures including unlocking products and putting them on display as specified in training, ensuring products are locked away and placed in fridge if necessary at the end of the shift, tally amounts of products sold in quality and dollar amounts.

REQUIREMENTS
•	Volunteer must be over the age of 19
Excellent communication and listening skills.
•	Interest in spending time in a hospital and comfort working with ill and injured adult patients.
•	Ability to walk and stand for the duration of a 2 - 4 hour shift.
•	Previous cashier experience is a benefit, but not required.
