VCH Home Health Outreach - 1-1 Visitor Volunteer - HUNGARIAN Speaking Female

One to One visitor volunteers provide in-home social and emotional support to older adult clients who are socially isolated and have limited social supports.  Through weekly home visits the visiting volunteer helps to support client’s independence and social activity.

Referrals to the Home Health program are client centered, customized to suit client’s wellness goals. Volunteers are introduced to client by supervising case manager.

Examples of client goals can include:
•	socialization to relieve loneliness and/or depression, 
•	physical wellness through walks in the neighbourhood or assisting with exercises,
•	making connections in their community such as accompanying client to coffee shop, 
         library, grocery shopping
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•	Arrange weekly home visits and/or outings with client and maintain open 
        communication with client.
•	Share mutually enjoyable activities.
•	Communicate with VCH Coordinator, Volunteer Resources and VCH Case Manager for 
        biweekly check ins on how placement is progressing, changes to availability, or any 
        client safety issues or successes. 
  
REQUIREMENTS
•	Must be comfortable working independently with an adult client (at client’s home or in 
        the community)
•	Must be comfortable starting a conversation, patient, respectful, understanding, and 
        compassionate; and have strong interpersonal skills and good judgment.
•	Must adhere to client/volunteer boundaries and confidentiality.
•	Competency in English. 

TRAINING TO BE PROVIDED
•	VCH Home Health case manager involved with client will make the initial client 
         introduction.
•	Case manager will provide relevant information and answer questions regarding 
         communicating with client and their needs.
