Volunteer Ambassadors - be a community connector in Burlington!

5 hours / quarterly
Minimum 6-month term
Volunteer Halton is the volunteer centre for Halton Region. Connecting community is what we do.  

Volunteer Ambassadors at Volunteer Halton play a pivotal role in community engagement, actively promoting the importance of volunteering and connecting residents with meaningful opportunities. This position involves conducting community outreach at events such as school curriculum nights, farmer’s markets, cultural events, and other gatherings in community. It also involves sharing stories about the benefits of volunteering, and fostering a sense of belonging, especially within underrepresented and marginalized groups. Ambassadors will contribute to building awareness, facilitating connections, and providing equitable service to diverse communities in the Halton Region.

This role involves a minimum 6 month commitment with approximately 20-25 hours per year spread over 4 different events. 

Volunteer Halton strives to reflect the strengths and diversity of the Halton community and welcomes applications from people with disabilities and encourages people to make requests for accommodations at any point in the process. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate that they are:

- Minimum 16 years of age  
- Good verbal and written communication skills  
- Comfortable navigating the VolunteerConnector database  
- Comfortable engaging individuals from diverse backgrounds  
- Able to engage all attendees with dignity and respect  
- Organized and can effectively manage inquiries and tasks  
- Provide information via good customer service skills

Volunteer Halton is particularly encouraging individuals with weekday, daytime availability to consider this volunteer opportunity.  The flexibility of the role works for those with daytime "openings" in their schedules such as post-secondary students, school bus drivers, older adults, and part-time/shift workers.
