Childminding
Ongoing
Do you love working with toddlers and kids in a team environment? Consider joining Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association's Neighbour Night childminding team! The purpose of this role is to assist in attending to the basic needs and entertainment of toddlers and kids while their parents engage in the Neighbour Night program. Neighbour Night is an informal, drop-in, peer support program that brings Hillhurst Sunnyside community members together to build friendships while engaging in participant-led activities and workshops. We start the evening by eating dinner together (kids, parents, and volunteers) and then the kids and childminding volunteers head to their playspace while the parents participate in the program. The program is held on Thursdays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at HSCA every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. Duties of the childminding support volunteers are to: - engage in one-on-one play and group activities with the kids - attend to the basic needs of the kids - be a model of positive behaviour We will aim to have a ratio of 1 volunteer for every 2 children attending the program so that there is ample opportunity for relationship building and mentoring. Volunteers must receive or provide a current vulnerable sector police check. If you do not have a current one, HSCA will reimburse you for your police check!
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Develop your resume, volunteer and contribute to the community, and hang out with children!
