Volunteer Cook

1320 5 Avenue NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 0S2 [map]
2-4 hours
1st and/or 3rd Thursday of the month.
Share your love for cooking with the Neighbour Night program to help a group of amazing residents build relationships and livelihood assets!

Volunteer Cooks would ideally be available on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month leading up to the 5:30pm dinner service, OR the volunteer could prepare the meal at an earlier time or date and leave instructions for serving. We have many recipes to follow if you do not want to bring your own recipe, but if you are wanting to try out something you are welcome to as well! The time commitment is typically between 1:30pm and 4:30pm, but can be flexible and creative based on your availability and desire.

The responsibilities of a Neighbour Night Volunteer Cook are to:
-	Plan, prepare, and cook a healthy, vegetarian, and nut-free meal for Neighbour Night
-	Inform the Community Connections Coordinator of any ingredients needed for the meal to ensure everything is ready to cook upon arrival
-	Clean up related materials and spaces after use

Neighbour Night itself is an informal peer support program that brings together Hillhurst Sunnyside community members to build new friendships while engaging in various recreation activities and workshops that participants have selected. The program runs every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Each session begins with sharing a meal, followed by an activity or workshop.

We are looking for someone to be part of our Volunteer Cook Team particularly throughout the summer. Our current volunteer cook will show you around and make sure you feel comfortable before you would be working independently.

All volunteers are invited to join the group dinner and activity at Neighbour Night after each week!
