Inmu Touch Support
The name INMU stands for ‘interactive music’. It combines music, tactile elements, and movement in a soft interactive cushion that stimulates multiple senses. The Inmu is designed to give peace of mind through its design and sophisticated sensor technology. Working with dementia residents and the Inmu touch devices under the supervision of the Recreational Therapy Manager. You could be assisting walking therapy where the resident moves to the rhythm of the Inmu touch. You could be leading mirroring exercises where the resident mirrors your movements which strengthens focus and provides new opportunities of communication. You could be assisting residents with the Inmu touch under their feet (can be done while sitting in a wheelchair). This helps strengthen motor skills, mobility, blood circulation and has a calming effect. This device allows anyone the opportunity to feel the joy of making music. Even small movements or a touch provides a change in the music. Hearing impaired or deaf individuals feel the experience of vibrations and pulse.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
You will make a positive impact on the lives of dementia residents & their families, and gain an increased understanding of dementia & its effects, and an insight into effective caregiving strategies & best practices. You will gain proficiency using touch devices and related software and learn to troubleshoot common technical issues. You will enhance your ability to communicate effectively by adapting styles to meet the needs of residents. Experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
