Social Media Specialist for Youth Central

Are you a social media expert passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Maybe you’d like a chance to have some fun outside of your corporate communications role? Youth Central is seeking skilled and experienced social media volunteers to help amplify our message, raise vital funds, and engage our community. About Youth Central: Youth Central is a Calgary-based charity empowering youth through volunteerism, leadership programs, and community involvement. Each year we help more than 2,200 youth aged 12 – 18 build confidence, social connections and invaluable life and leadership skills. Role Description: As a Social Media Specialist Volunteer, you will work closely with our team to drive engagement, elevate Youth Central’s brand, and implement strategies to support fundraising and outreach goals. This is an opportunity to leverage your skills and give back to your community while helping Youth Central reach a larger audience and create lasting change for youth across Calgary. Responsibilities: -Develop and execute targeted social media campaigns to support fundraising, awareness, and program promotion. -Generate engaging, on-brand content (copy, graphics, etc.) that resonates with diverse audiences. -Monitor and analyze social media metrics to track and optimize performance. -Collaborate with our communications team to align social media efforts with overall organizational goals. -Explore new channels and strategies to improve our social media reach and engagement. -Scan for emerging trends and recommend evolutions to our content that align with them. Qualifications: -Proven experience (3+ years) in social media management, digital marketing, content creation or video production/editing. -Strong understanding of social media platforms, analytics, and best practices -Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and scheduling platforms (e.g., Hootsuite) -Exceptional written and visual communication skills, with an eye for engaging, mission-driven content -Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines Time Commitment: We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 2 - 3 hours per week for at least three months.
