Community Engagement Program in Vietnam
Our Community Engagement Program offers short-term, paid volunteer opportunities for a minimum commitment of 2 weeks. Participants can help young Vietnamese students improve English language skills while enjoying the lively culture of Danang. Designed for those eager to make a positive impact, we offer a range of volunteering packages to suit diverse interests, ensuring a fulfilling experience for all. Program Objectives Educational Contribution: Offer volunteers valuable teaching experience, fostering connections with local schools and disadvantaged communities and contributing to improve English language skills for the youth, enhancing job opportunities and empower the community for long-term growth in the Centre, Vietnam. Cultural Immersion: Enable volunteers to engage deeply with Vietnamese culture and tradition through diverse activities, enhancing their understanding of the communities they serve. This includes exploring Da Nang, Hoi An Ancient Town, and Hue, visiting UNESCO sites, local tailor shops, and riverside eateries, as well as engaging in cultural experiences and crafting handmade items. Who will volunteers help? Volunteers will be connecting with university students aged 18 to 25, coming from different backgrounds in Centre, Vietnam, a region that is less economically developed compared to other areas in the country. These students face challenges in accessing English language resources and exposure to a global environment. What's included? - Airport transfer: Participants will be picked up from Da Nang International Airport, which is just a 6-minute drive from the volunteer house. - Comprehensive pre-departure support: Before flying to Vietnam, participants will receive dedicated assistance from a CEP support coordinator to answer any questions, and also get an Essential Information for Packing guide and access to a webinar to learn more about the program. - Arrival Orientation: Upon arrival, CEP team will host a comprehensive orientation for participants that includes teaching skills training, as well as insights into local culture, values, and expected behaviors. - Project Work: Participants will engage in teaching activities designed to strengthen English language skills for the youth at various project sites. The weekly schedule is tailored to accommodate each individual's 10 hours based on project site schedules, ensuring a fulfilling and personalized experience. - City and Hoi An Tours: To fully immerse yourself in the local culture and explore the surrounding landscapes, you’ll have the opportunity to join guided tours of popular city landmarks and nearby attractions in Hoi An. - Accommodation: Volunteers will stay at our volunteer house located in the heart of Hai Chau District, just a 10-minute drive from the beach. The accommodation features dorm-style shared rooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. Amenities include air conditioning, Wi-Fi (With high-speed Wi-Fi offering a download speed of 263.28 Mbps and an upload speed of 261.39 Mbps), a washing machine, and a communal kitchen. - Meals: Breakfast options may include soy milk, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit, or sandwiches. For lunch, participants can enjoy a variety of offerings such as rice, tofu with tomato sauce, papaya salad, vegetables, minced chicken, and fruit for dessert. Dinner is where the experience really shines, featuring local favorites like Vietnamese tofu noodle soup, rice, braised eggs with mushrooms, pumpkin soup, stir-fried vegetables, spaghetti, spring rolls, and more. And of course, every meal concludes with some refreshing fruit. - Welcome & Farewell Parties: To enhance engagement and foster connections among our volunteers, we will host special parties where you can meet the C4C team and network with fellow international volunteers. - Global Connect: To connect volunteers with local and international youth in global discussion.
Additional Details & Skills Required
Pre-Departure Support: Before departure, participants receive guidance from a CEP coordinator, including a packing guide, a program webinar, and answers to any questions. Arrival Orientation: Upon arrival, the CEP team provides an orientation with teaching skills training and cultural insights on local values and behaviors. In-Country Support: Participants will receive ongoing support, including a welcome orientation on safety, culture, and the environment.
