Friends of St. Michael's of Edmonton Society: Community Bingo Volunteer
The Friends of St. Michael's Society of Edmonton are looking for bingo volunteers for our fundraising bingos. This group consists of individuals who are dedicated to advancing the mission of St. Michael's Health Group through fundraising initiatives, volunteer support, promoting the needs of seniors, and by encouraging charitable contributions. In order to volunteer for these bingos, you must first become a member of the Friends of St. Michael's of Edmonton Society. Anyone can become a member, and we encourage all of our volunteers to do so! The process of applying for membership will be similar to that of applying for any other volunteer position. Our bingo volunteers sign up to work at the Castledowns, Kensington and Fort Road bingo halls. Volunteers are able to choose a preference between working in the office, or as an usher selling cards on the floor. Ushers are responsible for callbacks of bingos to the bingo caller, and for selling cards or balls to players. Typically, volunteers must be 18 or older. However, Kensington bingo hall allows two volunteers who are 16 or older to sell Bonanza cards. Bingo hall addresses are as follows: Kensington Bingo Hall: 12538 132 Avenue NW Castledowns Bingo: 12222 137 Avenue NW Fort Road Bingo Association: 13403 Fort Road NW No previous experience is required!
Additional Details & Skills Required
Our Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that you receive appropriate training prior to working your first bingo. Volunteers are expected to arrive at the bingo hall for 10:30a.m. and can expect to work until approximately 3:30p.m. A twenty-minute lunch break is allotted for each bingo volunteer, and St. Michael's covers the cost of your lunch (maximum $16.00). Bingo volunteers are scheduled by sign-up only, and can choose to work exclusively at one of the halls, or at all of them!
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Working one of our bingos will keep you busy for a good portion of the day, and is also great exercise when working as an usher! You will have the opportunity to create connections with the regular players at the halls, as well as your fellow volunteers.
