Volunteer opportunities to asssist with emergency animal rescue and care
Ongoing
Do you have a passion to work with animals and people? Would you like to join a team that assists people and their animals in a disaster? Then the Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team (ALERT) needs you! ALERT is dedicated to the well-being of animals through the preparation for and actual evacuation, rescue and shelter of domestic animals and livestock when they are evacuated from their properties due to fire, flood, and other emergencies. When not responding to a disaster, ALERT volunteers are busy attending training, assisting with facility maintenance, conducting public education and a host of other activities. Volunteers must be 19 and over or between 16-18 if accompanied by an ALERT-trained parent/guardian volunteer. New member intake and training happens once or twice a year. For more information on what we are all about, check out our website at www.alertcanada.org or contact Jennifer: voladmin@alertcanda.org
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers have the opportunity to learn how to prepare themselves and their animals for evacuations; learn new skills in the area of emergency animal rescue; meet new people; be able to help out during emergencies.
