Surrey-North Delta Meals on Wheels

Surrey-North Delta Meals on Wheels (SNDMOW) is a volunteer community service that delivers fresh, nutritious meals to recipients homes Monday through Friday. This service is available to anyone who, by reason of age, physical or mental handicap or illness, cannot prepare adequate meals for themselves. We have been serving the communities of Surrey, North Delta and Cloverdale since 1970. Over 100 people - seniors, people with disabilities, low-income individuals and persons recuperating from surgeries - rely on SNDMOW to deliver fresh, nutritious meals each day of the week.
Our important community service would not be possible without our dedicated and committed group of volunteer drivers. Last year, our volunteer drivers delivered roughly 24,000 meals and 10,000 bagged lunches to our clients, driving a total of 44,000km! With an aging population, the demand for our service is expected to continue. In addition to providing a fresh nutritious meal, our volunteers also offer the comfort and reassurance of a daily informal visit and check-in on the safety and well-being of all our meal recipients.
If you can spare a few hours during the week and are interested in volunteering for a much needed community service, please contact us to get started! We ask that volunteers commit to one day per week between the hours of 9:30am and 12:30pm, times are dependent on which route you will be driving and how many clients you have on your route. Having excellent interpersonal skills and being compassionate and sensitive to the needs of seniors and those who are homebound are assets to this position. A class 5 drivers license is required and a quarterly reimbursement of $0.80 per km is provided for vehicle expenses.
